Partnered Health today announced the acquisition of Medicine on Second, a long-established general practice located Maroochydore in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, further strengthening its presence in Queensland and reinforcing its commitment to supporting accessible, high-quality primary healthcare in growing regional communities.
For more than 35 years, Medicine on Second has been providing comprehensive healthcare services to generations of local families. Under the leadership of Dr Michael Ryan and Dr Roger Morris, the practice has built a strong reputation for delivering trusted, patient-centred care and fostering enduring relationships with patients across the Sunshine Coast.
As part of the transition, Dr Ryan and Dr Morris will continue to care for patients at the clinic, and lead a seamless integration into the Partnered Health Medical Centres network.
The acquisition aligns with Partnered Health’s strategy of partnering with respected community medical centres and supporting their long-term sustainability through investment in clinical, operational, and technological infrastructure while preserving the unique character and local identity of each practice.
Dr Malcolm Parmenter, Managing Director and CEO of Partnered Health, said:
“Medicine on Second has been a trusted cornerstone of healthcare on the Sunshine Coast for more than three decades. Dr Michael Ryan and Dr Roger Morris have established an outstanding practice built on clinical excellence, genuine community connection, and a commitment to caring for generations of local families.”
“We are delighted to welcome the Medicine on Second team to Partnered Health. Our focus is on supporting practices to thrive for the long term, providing access to the resources, infrastructure, and professional networks that enable clinicians to continue delivering exceptional patient care. We look forward to working alongside Michael, Roger, and the broader team as they continue serving the Sunshine Coast community.”
Dr Michael Ryan and Dr Roger Morris welcomed the acquisition, stating:
“After more than 35 years serving our community, it was important for us to find an organisation that shares our commitment to quality healthcare, continuity of care, and supporting both our patients and team members. Partnered Health’s values and long-term vision closely align with our own.”
“This transition provides the practice with additional resources and support while retaining the patient-centred approach that has defined Medicine on Second since its establishment. Most importantly, our patients will continue to receive care from the same trusted doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals they know so well.”
Patients can expect no disruption to services throughout the transition. Medicine on Second will continue to operate from its existing clinic, supported by Partnered Health Medical Centres’ growing national network of general practices, allied health services, specialist providers, and digital health initiatives.
