Leading healthcare provider Fullerton Health Australia has expanded its national services following the acquisition of General Practice Plus’ six Hobart based GP clinics.
The settlement, which took place on November 1, marks Fullerton Health’s first foray into the Tasmanian General Practice service following a very successful launch of its Jobfit business in 2020.
The six General Practice Plus clinics include:
- Argyle Street, Hobart
- Cascade Road, South Hobart
- Gregory Street, Sandy Bay
- Mountain Retreat, South Hobart
- Stoke Street, New Town
- Kingston Plaza, Kingston
General Practice Plus’ CEO Kate O’Shannessey, who will remain with the company to assist with the transition of ownership, says the staff and patients are in good hands thanks to Fullerton Health’s proven track record in primary care across the country.
“Fullerton Health Australia has its origins in Adelaide, where its head office still remains. This, among a broad range of other factors, gave the former owners comfort, knowing our values were aligned and that the health and wellbeing of patients always comes first. Ultimately, it’s why we do what we do,” Ms O’Shannessey said.
Fullerton Health Australia Managing Director Steven Harvey says for patients, it will be the same exceptional care with the same dedicated Doctors, nurses and staff available to take care of all patient needs.
“I look forward to working with Ms O’Shannessey and the former owners Dr Ralph, Dr Lockley, Dr Kruimink, Dr O’Neill and Dr Lo, together with over 50 GPs, nurses and staff across the six clinics who have done a wonderful job of serving the Tasmanian community,” Mr Harvey said.
“As one of Australia’s largest healthcare providers, we bring the benefits of scale but always ensure it is balanced with the needs of patients at the forefront.
“This includes assessing what additional services may be needed and expanding accordingly to complement the services already available in some of the clinics including skin checks, pathology and allied health (eg. dietitians and psychologist services).
“We share General Practice Plus’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare and look forward to working with the team to continue to support the health and wellbeing of Tasmanian families.”
